School of Public Health at a glance
School of Public Health was established with the aim of conducting in research, teaching and learning in all fields of public health in 1987. School of Public Health is Iran’s oldest and biggest school of public health to serve local, national and international communities. We help our students possess the knowledge and skills required for their future career through our experienced staff and constant collaboration and partnership with industries. We are one of the most desirable higher education institutes in Asia owing to our extensive investment in research, teaching and learning facilities, academic staff development and a strong student focus.
The School of Public Health’s main objectives are to provide the highest level of education, foster new research and strengthen health capacities and services in order to: prevent illness and injuries, ensure people live in a safe and clean environment, have healthy eating and other lifestyle habits and develop policies and programs to reduce health disparities and improve health and healthcare services. To achieve these objectives, School of Public Health has a well-established management structure with over 40 academic members of staff, 6 educational departments, over 16 academic programs, more than 222 MSc and PhD students and 26 MPH students in a variety of courses, although the school continues to expand.
The School of Public Health of Hamadan University of medical Sciences has a relatively long history of educational activity, which began in 1974 with a two Year course of School Health worker training at the high School of Public Health. After the Cultural Revolution, educational activities continued in the form of a health education institution by adding the environmental health . Since 1985, this institution has been responsible in all health sciences course education in the Hamadan University of medical sciences and has trained students in the fields of disease control health Environment and Public Health.
In the academic year of 1990-91, this institution has offered baccalaureate degree in environmental health and Occupational health. Following the provision of acceptable educational and research facilities, Council for the Development of medical sciences Universities agreed to convert the institution of health to the Faculty in 1992 gradually, the degrees of public health and family healthcare were added to the Faculty. The first course of student baccalaureate education began in the academic year 1994.
